RESERVES TEAM On Saturday we faced a strong Pittwater side who played much better than the table suggested! First half we managed to shut down most of their chances and were also unlucky not to get a goal, with Kay creating havoc up front and Mick and Falcs creating space in the middle for a number of shots. Jordan was dangerous with the ball again and we had a number of periods in front of their goal from corners and build up play. We went into halftime 0-0 quite positive. Second half we started well again, however started to loss possession and then also our shape. We managed to let them into the game and they converted from a free kick which would have been hard for anyone to stop! They continued their pressure and we let in another one which seemed to fire us back up again. Their keeper made an impressive save from a shot we had at their bottom corner! We got one back towards the end of the game through Deano to make it a close finish however it wasn’t enough. We take the loss on the chin, they were hungrier and wanted it that bit more in the end and we lost our composure. We learn from it though and bounce back next week against our local rivals Wakehurst! We are still sitting 5th spot too, with a long season to go to retain a top 4 spot. FIRSTS TEAM Pittwater has always been a tough team and Saturday’s match was no exception. Both teams started the first half with absolute intensity and aside from both teams creating a lot of chances, the two major events of the first half were a save from Mike in the opening 5 minutes – despite being blinded by the Sun; and Braddy unfortunately pulling up with pain in his hamstring after a sprint. The second half was a lot more lively with all five goals! Pittwater opened the scoring with one of their players cutting in from the left, and whipping the ball into the bottom right corner in a Coutinhoesc style finish. The second goal came soon after in an identical finish from the same player. We eventually fought back and picked up a glancing headed goal by Kieran after a trademark long-throw from Lachy. There was another great moment where Javey slipped a through-ball to Jeremy who was one-on-one with the keeper. Despite a great run and getting in behind the Pittwater defensive line, the ensuing kick ended flying way over the goals and on the 4th tee of Mona Vale golf course. The end-to-end continued, and Pittwater again found themselves attacking us at pace down the right side of the pitch. A questionable foul was given against Mauritzio and the resulting free kick took the game to a 3-1 score line. Never a team to give up, we pushed forward again, and another fantastic header from Kieran bounced off the corner post and was latched onto by Aidan who kicked the ball straight into the roof of the net. Despite the great spirit and fight, it wasn’t enough #ROUND7 #PITBEL #FOCUSONTHEFIGHT #GREATSPIRIT
